Newly Released Video Reveals Details of Fatal Bus Crash in Seattle

SEATTLE, WASHINGTON – A newly released video depicts the events leading up to a tragic bus crash in Seattle that resulted in the death of a 28-year-old woman. The footage, released by the King County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office (KCPAO), provides crucial evidence of the incident that occurred at the intersection of 5th Ave and Battery Street on November 4.

The collision took place on a fateful Saturday afternoon in Seattle’s Belltown neighborhood when a driver ran a red light, causing a catastrophic accident.

The Newly Released Footage: A Detailed Account

The video shows a red sedan allegedly driven by 31-year-old Adam Abelson, speeding down Fifth Avenue and running a red light. The sedan crashed into a King County Metro bus, causing it to swerve and collide with a woman waiting to cross the street. Tragically, the impact resulted in the immediate death of the woman, later identified as Amanda Joelle Schneider by the King County Medical Examiner.

While the bus passengers suffered minor injuries, with eight individuals receiving treatment before being discharged, the bus driver sustained a sore shoulder and headache from the impact of the steering wheel on his leg.

Adam Abelson, the driver of the red sedan, was removed from the vehicle and received medical treatment at Harborview Medical Center for his injuries. Subsequently, he has been charged with vehicular homicide, reckless driving, and driving without a valid license.

During the investigation, drug paraphernalia was discovered on the car’s front passenger seat, raising suspicions of recent drug consumption. A toxicology test has been ordered for Abelson, and the results from the Washington State Toxicology Lab are pending.

Court records indicate that Abelson has a prior conviction for a hit and run. Additionally, he has a pending case involving fleeing from a police officer and running a red light in downtown Seattle. With more than 50 warrants for his arrest, prosecutors argue that Abelson poses a significant threat to public safety and is unlikely to voluntarily appear in court.

Due to the severity of the charges, Abelson’s bail has been set at $500,000, and he is currently detained in the King County jail.
