Police – Accident – Death – Obituary News : Three individuals have tragically lost their lives and one person has been hospitalized after reportedly consuming counterfeit alcohol in Sitamarhi district, Bihar. The authorities have arrested three suspects who have been accused of selling fake liquor.

According to the police, they received a tip-off about two individuals receiving treatment at a private hospital in Sitamarhi due to consuming spurious liquor. Upon reaching the hospital on the night of Friday and Saturday, they discovered that one person, identified as Awadesh Kumar, had already passed away. The exact cause of his death will be determined following a post-mortem examination, as stated by the police.

Another individual, identified as Roshan Rai, is currently receiving medical attention at the hospital, and the police are in contact with his family members, the authorities further added. During the investigation, it was revealed that two more individuals had also died in the area after consuming spurious liquor. Unfortunately, their bodies had already been cremated without informing the police.

The accused were found to be in possession of approximately 90 bottles of liquor, which were subsequently seized by the police. It is worth noting that the sale and consumption of alcohol have been prohibited in Bihar since 2016, under the governance of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. Despite the ongoing crackdown on bootleggers, incidents of liquor smuggling persist in the state.

This incident is reminiscent of a similar tragedy that occurred in East Champaran district earlier this year, where over 30 people lost their lives after consuming spurious liquor. The government’s efforts to curb such incidents have not been entirely successful, highlighting the need for stricter enforcement and preventive measures.
