In a recent development, Thai authorities have clarified the rumours circulating around a viral photograph featuring the infamous criminal Chawalit Thongduang, also known as ‘Sia Peng Nah Nod.’ The image, widely shared on social media, falsely depicted Sia Peng celebrating after his notorious prison escape, leading to speculations of local law enforcement involvement in the event.

Clearing Up Misunderstandings

The National Police Headquarters has strongly denied these allegations, highlighting that the controversial image actually dates back to a Facebook post from March 2020, which significantly predates Sia Peng’s escape. In the photograph, three individuals identified as Sunan or James, Pongsak or Dome, and Jirawut or Boy, can be seen, all of whom are currently serving prison sentences. There is no evidence suggesting the involvement of any police officers in the incident.

A Notorious Escape

This clarification comes amidst increasing speculation following Sia Peng’s audacious escape from Maharat Nakhon Si Thammarat Hospital on October 22. The 37-year-old, notorious for his violent criminal history, has since been on the run, triggering an intensive manhunt by law enforcement agencies.

Parallel Developments

Meanwhile, in a separate case, the authorities have successfully captured the final fugitive from the four inmates who escaped from the Bibb County Detention Center in Georgia, USA, back in October. Joey Fournier, a 52-year-old murder suspect, was arrested near Stockbridge. Fournier, along with the other three inmates, made their getaway from the detention center on October 16 by exploiting a damaged window and fence, eventually stealing a blue Dodge Challenger to aid their escape. The remaining escapees, Stokes, Barnwell, and Anderson, were apprehended earlier in separate incidents.
