Six Alleged Robbers Killed in Encounter with Police in Lahore

Accident – Death – Obituary News : Lahore: Six alleged burglars were killed in a fierce encounter with the Organised Crime Unit (OCU) and Iqbal Town police in the College Block on Saturday. The armed men had reportedly broken into the residence of a doctor, Dr Ibad, and held his family hostage at gunpoint.

According to reports, the six robbers, armed with sophisticated weapons, entered Dr Ibad’s house. While two of them stood guard at the gate, the other four took the family hostage and began looting the property. Sensing danger, a girl inside the house managed to make a distress call to the police helpline 15.

The police operations wing and the Organised Crime Unit promptly responded to the call. However, upon seeing the police, the suspects opened fire, leading to a gun battle. The OCU SP Furqan Bilal and Iqbal Town DSP Muhammad Ali Butt rushed to the scene with a heavy contingent of police forces.

The encounter continued for approximately an hour, during which all six suspects sustained fatal gunshot wounds. The bodies were subsequently moved to a morgue for autopsy, while teams of experts, including those from the Punjab Forensic Science Agency (PFSA), collected evidence from the crime scene.

The deceased suspects were identified as Ali Raza, a resident of Mian Channu, Imran Mehar, Chand, Ali Raza Rana, Waseem Chima, and another individual named Waseem, all hailing from Vehari. The police are currently investigating their criminal records to gather more information about their activities.

During a visit to Dr Ibad’s house in Iqbal Town, Inspector General of Police Dr Usman Anwar commended the OCU and operations wing teams for their swift action against the robbers who had taken the family hostage. Dr Anwar praised the immediate response and excellent coordination between the OCU and the operations wing, which resulted in the neutralization of the suspects.

Despite facing fierce firing from the robbers, the police team managed to eliminate all of them in the exchange of fire. Dr Anwar urged the police to remain vigilant in protecting the citizens and to continue their relentless efforts in fighting crime and providing public service.

Residents of the area expressed their fear and panic during the intense gunfire. The police and forensic teams sealed the house and collected evidence, while DSP Irtiza Kumail confirmed that the police arrived at the crime scene within minutes. To prevent any collateral damage, the entire area was cordoned off.

IG Anwar also met with the affected family to ensure their safety and security. He announced that the department would request rewards and medals for all the police officers involved in the operation, acknowledging their role in thwarting the crime and safeguarding the residents. He emphasized the importance of the immediate and effective response from the Lahore police to distress calls, which played a crucial role in ensuring the safety of the residents.

In a separate incident, the Masti Gate police arrested two suspected members of a notorious robbery gang. The arrested individuals, Islam and Akram, were found in possession of Rs30, a mobile phone, a motorbike, and illegal weapons. The police revealed that the suspects were involved in several robbery and snatching cases, and investigations are ongoing.

The intense encounter with the robbers in Lahore highlights the continued efforts of law enforcement agencies to combat crime and protect the citizens. The prompt response and coordinated action by the police demonstrate their dedication to maintaining peace and security in the city..
