Police – Accident – Death – Obituary News : Tragic Electrocution Incident Claims Lives of Mother and Infant in Bengaluru

BENGALURU: A devastating incident of electrocution resulted in the untimely demise of a nine-month-old baby girl and her 23-year-old mother near Hope Farm junction on Whitefield Main Road in Bengaluru on Sunday. The victims, identified as Suvikshaliya and her mother Soundharya, were residents of AKG Colony near Channasandra. This heart-wrenching incident occurred when they accidentally came into contact with a snapped electric wire lying on the pavement.

The grief-stricken husband and father, Santosh Kumar, who works for an IT firm, witnessed the tragic deaths of his wife and baby. Despite his desperate attempts to save them, he too received an electric shock and was unable to rescue them. The incident took place around 6am as the couple and their daughter were returning home.

Dr. Shivakumar Ganare, the Deputy Commissioner of Police in Whitefield, stated that a case of negligence causing death under IPC section 304A has been registered at Kadugodi police station against the concerned Bescom officials. Three officials are currently being questioned as part of the ongoing investigation.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the couple had traveled to their native Salem in Tamil Nadu to celebrate the Deepawali festival. They then returned to Bengaluru by bus and alighted near Hope Farm junction. As Soundharya was walking on the pavement carrying her daughter and a bag, she accidentally stepped on the snapped wire. Both the baby and Soundharya were electrocuted and tragically charred to death.

The bodies of the victims have been transferred to the Vydehi hospital mortuary for autopsy. In response to this devastating incident, a case has been registered against five officials of the Whitefield sub-division Bescom, including executive engineer Sriram, assistant executive engineer Subramani, assistant engineer Chetan, and staff members Rajanna and Manju.
