In a shocking incident, the owner of a medical store and his pharmacist-employee have been arrested for planning and executing an acid attack on a 25-year-old woman in Maharajganj’s Bitthauli area. The accused have been identified as Anil Verma, the owner of the medical store, and Ram Bachan, his employee. The Uttar Pradesh Police special director general (Law and Order), Prashant Kumar, stated that Verma conspired with Bachan to force the woman to call off her wedding. Verma was upset after learning about her decision to marry another man. He believed that by orchestrating this attack, he would be able to win her love back.

The incident took place on Thursday when the woman and her mother were returning home. A masked man riding a two-wheeler threw acid on the woman, causing severe injuries to her face and eyes. She was immediately rushed to BRD Medical College in Gorakhpur for treatment.

According to Kumar, the survivor was acquainted with Verma and would often visit his store. Verma took advantage of their familiarity and asked Bachan to carry out the attack. In return, he promised to pay Bachan ₹15,000. Verma believed that the acid from car batteries would not cause much harm to the woman and that he could eventually win her affection once again.

After dropping off the two women near their house, Verma informed Bachan about their location and movements. Bachan, on Verma’s instructions, executed the crime and fled the scene. Verma later returned to the spot and rushed the victims to the hospital. However, he tried to convince them not to file a police complaint. The police, however, swiftly uncovered Verma’s involvement in the attack within 24 hours.
