Manhunt underway in Memphis after multiple shootings leave four dead and one wounded

(CNN) — A massive manhunt is currently underway in Memphis, Tennessee, following a string of shootings that resulted in the deaths of three women and a 13-year-old girl, while another teenager sustained serious injuries on Saturday, according to local authorities.

The Memphis Police Department is currently investigating the initial shooting, which occurred at approximately 9:20 p.m. CT on Howard Drive. Law enforcement officials have connected this incident to two other fatal shootings, all of which are believed to be the work of the same suspect.

The alleged perpetrator has been identified as Mavis Christian Jr., a 52-year-old individual who is considered to be “armed and extremely dangerous” by the police. Authorities have revealed that the preliminary information suggests that these tragic events stem from a domestic violence incident, and Christian Jr. is a known relative of the victims. He managed to flee each scene in a white 2017 Chevrolet Malibu bearing the Tennessee license plate number 390-BHTM, but his current whereabouts remain unknown.

One of the shootings took place on Fieldlark Drive, resulting in the deaths of a woman and a 13-year-old girl. Additionally, a 15-year-old girl sustained critical injuries and is currently in a precarious condition, as reported by Memphis Police Department spokesperson Christopher Williams. The second shooting occurred nearly 13 miles away on Warrington Road, which claimed the life of another woman.

At this point, the authorities have refrained from releasing the identities of the victims or providing any details on their relationship to the suspect. The Memphis Police Department, in collaboration with local, state, and federal agencies, has launched an extensive manhunt to locate and apprehend Mavis Christian Jr.
