Attorney General John Formella, in a press conference held on Saturday morning, commended the actions of the police officer, stating that they “saved many lives” and were indeed heroic. However, Formella did not disclose the identity of the officer involved or provide further details about the number of shots fired by Madore or his motive for the shooting. It is worth noting that Haas was unarmed at the time of the incident.

The investigation into this tragic event is ongoing, with Formella urging anyone with information related to the shooting to come forward and contact the State Police Major Crime Unit hotline at 603-MCU-TIPS (603-628-8477).

Formella also refrained from disclosing Madore’s connection to the hospital or whether he had received treatment there. He did, however, mention that several individuals were present in the hospital lobby during the shooting, without specifying if they were patients, staff, or visitors.

Further details emerged regarding a UHaul vehicle found in the hospital parking lot. The UHaul was discovered to contain an AR-style rifle, a tactical vest, and ammunition magazines. The investigation into the connection between Madore and the UHaul is currently underway, with State Police Col. Mark Hall leading the efforts. The origin of the UHaul rental remains undisclosed at this time.

Despite the recent tragedies in Lewiston and the shooting at New Hampshire Hospital, Formella emphasized that New Hampshire remains one of the safest states in the country, boasting low murder rates and high clearance rates. He reassured the community that they are supported by the best law enforcement in the nation.

As investigations continue, it is crucial for anyone with relevant information to come forward and assist law enforcement in their efforts to uncover the full details of this tragic event. The community’s cooperation is vital in ensuring justice and preventing future acts of violence.
