Tragic Shooting Claims the Life of Franklin Security Officer at New Hampshire State Hospital
Dedicated Law Enforcement Veteran Identified as Victim
Concord, New Hampshire –
Authorities announced on Saturday that Bradley Haas, a 63-year-old resident of Franklin, has been identified as the victim of the fatal shooting that occurred at the New Hampshire State Hospital. Haas, a dedicated father and esteemed law enforcement veteran, tragically lost his life on Friday at approximately 3:30 p.m. while on duty at the hospital’s front lobby entrance.

Before joining the New Hampshire Department of Safety Security as an officer, Haas had an illustrious career in law enforcement. He proudly served as the Chief of the Franklin Police Department in his hometown for several years. Haas’s commitment to protecting the community spanned nearly three decades, commencing with his role as a patrol officer. He also served as a military police officer in the U.S. Army for three years, further demonstrating his dedication to public service.
The shooter responsible for this heinous act has been identified as John Madore, who had spent time in New Hampshire’s seacoast area and Concord. According to the police, Madore used a 9mm handgun to fatally shoot Haas. Additionally, other weapons were discovered in a nearby U-Haul vehicle, indicating potential further intentions of harm.
In response to the incident, a swift and coordinated multi-agency effort was initiated. Members of the New Hampshire State Police, Concord Police Department, New Hampshire State Office Complex Police, and the Merrimack County Sheriff’s Office swiftly arrived at the scene to support and secure the area. The Concord Fire Department also responded promptly to the emergency, providing necessary medical assistance and ensuring the safety of those affected.
