Man Arrested for Dumping Woman’s Body in Drum in Karachi’s DHA

KARACHI: In a shocking incident, the police claimed to have apprehended a suspect in connection with the disposal of a young woman’s body found in a drum at a plot in Defence Housing Authority (DHA) on Friday. The incident has sent shockwaves through the community, raising concerns about the safety and welfare of residents.

According to DIG-South Syed Asad Raza, the victim has been identified as Haseena, a housemaid employed in DHA. The lifeless body was discovered near Fatima Masjid in DHA, Phase-VII, late on Friday night, leaving the community in distress and mourning.

The police investigation revealed that Haseena resided with a driver named Hazratullah in their rented home in Qayyumabad. Hazratullah, a 32-year-old driver working for a Chinese national in DHA, had developed a close relationship with Haseena, who also worked in the same neighborhood.

Shockingly, the plot where the body was found is located just a short distance from Hazratullah’s residence, adding to the suspicion surrounding his involvement in the crime.

A decomposed corpse was discovered in a drum at a vacant plot in Phase VII; the police are treating Haseena’s acquaintance as the primary murder suspect.

Further investigation revealed that Hazratullah, a native of Tank, had been absent from work since Wednesday. He reportedly contacted the policemen stationed at his employer’s house, claiming that his friend Sohaib Hayat was responsible for Haseena’s murder, according to the DIG.

Authorities subsequently apprehended a man named Adil, who allegedly assisted Hazratullah in disposing of the body. Adil is believed to have played a role in facilitating the crime, raising questions about the extent of his involvement.

The investigators discovered that Haseena, who was originally known as Wazir Mai and hailed from Bahawalpur, was married. The motive behind her tragic demise remains unclear, and the police are urging her family to come forward with any information that may aid the investigation.

Speaking about Hazratullah’s statement, the DIG stated that upon his return home, he found Haseena lifeless. He then enlisted the help of his friend Adil to wrap the body in a plastic sheet, place it in a drum, and discard it at the plot.

“If the family fails to contact the police, we will proceed to register a murder case on behalf of the state against the suspects,” the DIG asserted, emphasizing the importance of the family’s cooperation in seeking justice for Haseena.

Upon arrival at the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for a post-mortem examination, the body was found to be in an advanced stage of decomposition, according to Police Surgeon Summaiya Syed. She stated that all necessary samples have been collected, and the exact cause of death will be determined once the reports are received.

This chilling incident has left the community in shock and disbelief, highlighting the need for enhanced security measures and vigilance in residential areas. The police are determined to bring the culprits to justice and ensure the safety of residents in DHA and its surrounding neighborhoods.
