Ex-Commando’s Body Found in Pond by Teenager in Alor Gajah

ALOR GAJAH: A tragic incident unfolded in Taman Indah, Sungai Udang, when a 14-year-old boy discovered the lifeless body of an ex-commando in a pond. The shocking discovery took place at around 5.30pm on Saturday (Nov 18) while the teenager was fishing in the area.

The young boy immediately informed his father about the distressing finding, and together they rushed to the Masjid Tanah police station to report the incident. Alor Gajah Officer-in-Charge of Police District (OCPD), Supt Arshad Abu, confirmed the details of the case.

Supt Arshad revealed that the deceased has been identified as Muhammad Azwan Ishak, a 42-year-old ex-commando from Felda Keratong, Pahang. The victim was previously stationed at the Terendak Army Camp in Sungai Udang but had recently resigned from his position.

Investigations have revealed that the ex-commando had made a phone call to his ex-wife on Friday night (Nov 17) at around 9pm. However, after that call, he could not be reached. Supt Arshad shared that the victim’s ex-wife informed the police that he had no known history of any illnesses.

Following the report, local authorities and firemen were mobilized to retrieve the body from the pond. With their assistance, the lifeless body was successfully recovered. The remains were then transported to Melaka Hospital for a post-mortem examination.

The subsequent medical examination confirmed that the cause of death was drowning. Consequently, the police have classified the case as a sudden death report.
