Body of 40-Year-Old Man Swept Away by Floodwaters Recovered in Phu Yen, Vietnam

The victim, identified as M.V.C., hailed from Ea Ly Commune in the province’s Song Hinh District, as confirmed by Hoang Dinh Nam, the chairman of the Ea Ly Commune administration.

The unfortunate incident occurred on Thursday evening, when heavy rainfall pounded the area. Seeking to ensure the safety of their livestock, C. and his wife made their way to their farm, situated in a field far from their residence. However, disaster struck as they attempted to cross a spillway bridge over the Ho Nai spring in the commune, causing C. to be swept away by the powerful floodwaters. His wife, fortunately, managed to survive the harrowing ordeal.

Upon receiving news of the incident, authorities swiftly mobilized approximately 50 rescuers to the scene, commencing a vigorous search for the missing victim that very night. Their tireless efforts finally paid off on Saturday morning at approximately 7:00 am, when they successfully located the lifeless body of C. around 200 meters downstream from where he was swept away.

The recent heavy downpours that have besieged Phu Yen Province have caused widespread flooding, resulting in numerous roads being rendered impassable and nearly 300 local households being inundated. The severity of the situation has prompted authorities to take immediate action to mitigate the effects of the flooding and provide assistance to affected residents.
