A devastating fire broke out at a steel mill located in the Kadomtali area of Dhaka’s Shyampur early on Sunday, resulting in the death of a 27-year-old worker and leaving three others injured. The deceased has been identified as Rabiul Islam, a dedicated worker hailing from Barguna district. The injured individuals have been identified as Mazharul Islam, aged 37, Shah Alam, aged 35, and Ashirul Islam, aged 35.

According to Officer-in-Charge (OC) Proloy Kumar Saha of the Kadomtali police station, the fire erupted on Saturday night while several workers were engaged in the process of melting iron rods. Tragically, an explosion occurred during this operation, causing severe injuries to four workers.

Rabiul Islam, unfortunately, suffered from 26% burn injuries, while Ashirul Islam sustained 8% burns. Both workers were immediately rushed to the renowned Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) for immediate medical attention. However, Rabiul succumbed to his injuries around 4 am, leaving everyone grief-stricken. On the other hand, Shah Alam and Mazharul Islam received first aid treatment for their injuries.
