Islamabad, Pakistan | November 18, 2023 – A devastating accident occurred on Thursday in Karachi, Pakistan, resulting in the death of a woman and her young son. The incident took place near Aga Khan Jamaat Khana on Shahra-e-Pakistan, as a high-speed Suzuki pickup collided with their motorcycle. The Express Tribune, a Pakistan-based news outlet, reported that the woman’s brother was critically injured, while a three-year-old girl who was also on the motorcycle miraculously escaped unharmed.

According to eyewitnesses, the Suzuki pickup was traveling at a high speed when it crashed into the motorcycle near Karimabad Bridge on Shahra-e-Pakistan. Tragically, the impact of the collision claimed the life of the minor boy, while the woman and her male companion sustained severe injuries. They were immediately rushed to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, where doctors later referred them to Civil Hospital due to the seriousness of their injuries.

Despite the medical team’s efforts, the woman succumbed to her injuries during the course of treatment at Civil Hospital. The victims have been identified as Afra, 23, and her son Anas, 4. The injured man, identified as Muaz, 20, who is the brother of the deceased woman, remains in critical condition.

Remarkably, the three-year-old girl named Ayman miraculously escaped any harm. The Express Tribune report confirmed that the woman and her son were on their way to her grandmother’s house in Liaquatabad at the time of the accident. The high-speed Suzuki pickup collided with their motorcycle near a pedestrian bridge before fleeing the scene.

Following standard legal procedures, the police have handed over the bodies of the deceased to their grieving relatives. Additionally, after reviewing CCTV footage, the authorities have initiated a search for the vehicle involved in the accident.

This tragic incident comes just days after another fatal collision in Karachi. On November 12, a bus and a rickshaw collided near Hub Chowki, resulting in the deaths of three individuals, including a woman and a young girl, as reported by ARY News, a Pakistan-based news channel.

In yet another heartbreaking incident, six members of the same family lost their lives in a car accident in Lahore’s Defence Phase 7 area on November 11. The victims, identified as Muhammad Hussain, Rukhsana, Anyiba, Huzafa, Sajad, and Aysha, were returning home to Shadab Colony in two cars when one vehicle collided with the other near Defence Phase 7, according to an ARY News report. Tragically, the collision resulted in severe injuries, and all six family members succumbed to their injuries while receiving treatment at the hospital.

The series of recent accidents serve as a grim reminder of the importance of road safety measures in Pakistan.
