WESTMINSTER, Md. — In a shocking and horrific case, 31-year-old Ravi Pansuriya has been found guilty of first-degree murder by a jury in Carroll County Circuit Court. The verdict came after a lengthy trial that exposed the gruesome details of the brutal killing and dismemberment of his father, Dr. Maganbhai Pansuriya, back in August of last year.

The harrowing incident came to light when a passerby discovered Dr. Pansuriya’s body along Medford Road outside New Windsor. The body was found lying partially on the roadway, prompting immediate investigations. The remains were later identified as those of the 59-year-old doctor.

Sheriff’s detectives made a chilling discovery three days later when they found Dr. Pansuriya’s head and hands in Morgan Run. Prior to this gruesome finding, Ravi’s wife had reported her father-in-law missing, having discovered blood stains in various areas of their garage, house, and bathroom.

Further investigations into the case revealed alarming evidence implicating Ravi in the heinous crime. Upon his return home, Ravi was seen driving the family truck. Authorities subsequently found presumed blood and human tissue in the truck’s bed, as well as on several tools in the garage, including hedge trimmers, branch cutters, an axe, a pick axe, a baseball bat, and a rake.

Surveillance footage played a crucial role in the trial, showing Ravi purchasing a wooden-handled axe at a local Walmart on the morning of the killing. This damning evidence further solidified the prosecution’s case against him.

According to charging documents, Dr. Pansuriya’s body was partially wrapped in linens and a rug that belonged to the family home. The items were secured with duct tape, and investigators discovered Ravi’s fingerprint on the adhesive side of the tape.

During the trial, the Interim Chief Medical Examiner for the State of Maryland testified to the horrific extent of the injuries inflicted upon Dr. Pansuriya. The doctor had suffered 45 stab wounds, nine cutting wounds, and blunt force injuries to the head. These injuries ultimately led to his untimely demise, as confirmed by the medical examiner.

As the trial concluded with Ravi’s conviction, a sentencing hearing is expected to be scheduled at a later date. The severity and brutality of the crime will undoubtedly weigh heavily on the judge’s decision, as the community grapples with the shock and horror of this heinous act..
