Tow Truck Driver Fatally Struck on Miami-Dade County’s Interstate 95

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – In a tragic incident on Saturday morning, a tow truck driver lost their life after being struck by another vehicle while providing assistance to a stranded motorist on the busy southbound lanes of Interstate 95 in Miami. The Florida Highway Patrol has confirmed the fatality.

Emergency services were alerted to the incident shortly after 4:30 a.m. The collision occurred in the vicinity of State Road 112, causing significant disruption to traffic flow in the area.

According to authorities, a tow truck had parked on the right emergency shoulder to assist a stranded white Cadillac. At the time of the accident, the tow truck driver was standing outside the disabled vehicle, ready to offer aid. Tragically, an oncoming gray Nissan SUV collided with the tow truck and its driver, leading to fatal consequences.

FHP Lieutenant Alex Camacho confirmed the death of the tow truck driver, a man, at the scene. The impact of the collision proved fatal, leaving no chance for medical intervention to save the driver’s life.

Shockingly, the driver of the gray Nissan SUV abandoned their vehicle and fled the scene on foot, leaving investigators searching for their whereabouts. Florida Highway Patrol troopers are actively pursuing leads to locate the fleeing driver and bring them to justice.

Fortunately, no other injuries were reported as a result of this unfortunate incident. However, the crash has caused authorities to launch a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the collision, aiming to determine its cause and prevent any similar incidents in the future.
