Upon returning, the EMT was shocked to find the vehicle missing. Swift action was taken by officers who tracked the ambulance’s GPS signal to a nearby residence. The homeowner confirmed that she had just noticed the ambulance parked in her driveway. Interestingly, law enforcement was already familiar with the suspect, 20-year-old Antorion Jones, as they had received multiple calls regarding his activities in the past. Reports indicate that Jones had been Baker Acted numerous times, further raising concerns about his mental state.

Fortunately, officers were able to apprehend Jones without any resistance. However, just two days later, on Wednesday, November 15th, another ambulance theft occurred at UF Health. EMTs were in the process of transferring a patient when they briefly left the ambulance unattended outside the hospital. Upon their return, they were stunned to find the vehicle missing. Initially suspecting a prank, they quickly realized the seriousness of the situation and promptly notified hospital security.

Thanks to modern technology, the stolen ambulance was located using its GPS tracker. The vehicle was found parked off of east 25th street, with the suspect, 35-year-old Delisha Oxendine, still in the driver’s seat. Oxendine was swiftly arrested, bringing an end to this bizarre chain of events.

UF Health officials have expressed their concern over these incidents, highlighting the potential risks to patients and the community.
