Varanasi: In a dramatic turn of events, a notorious criminal named Shahil Yadav was apprehended on Thursday night after sustaining a bullet injury to his leg during an encounter near the Ganga bridge in the Ballia police station area of Chandauli district. According to ASP Chandauli, Vinay Kumar Singh, Shahil Yadav was the mastermind behind a high-profile robbery case. Along with his associates, he had looted Rs 42,000 from the wife of a rice mill owner in Sonhula village on November 1. An FIR was promptly lodged against them at the Ballua police station under sections 392 (robbery), 34 (criminal act committed by two or more persons with a common intention), 120B (criminal conspiracy), and 411 (dishonestly receiving stolen property) of the Indian Penal Code. Two of Yadav’s associates had already been arrested prior to his capture.

Reports indicate that police officers spotted Yadav during a routine search operation near the Ganga bridge. Upon seeing the police team, Yadav attempted to escape. The police recovered the stolen car, a pistol, cartridges, and cash from Farukh’s possession. In an attempt to evade capture, Farukh opened fire on the police, leading to his demise.
