Man Shot Dead by Police After Killing Two People with a Hammer

In a tragic incident in Kimana area, Kajiado County, a man was shot dead by the police on Friday after he mercilessly clobbered two individuals to death. The local authorities have identified the assailant as Mwangi, a 22-year-old man. According to the police, Mwangi went on a rampage in the village, using a hammer as his weapon of choice.

Eyewitnesses reported that the assailant not only attacked innocent civilians but also targeted the police officers who arrived at the scene. In an attempt to escape, Mwangi even tried to use a police vehicle. His crime spree began when he trespassed into the homestead of 99-year-old Stanley Ngige Kimani, where he attempted to steal a car.

However, the elderly man’s presence startled Mwangi, and he confronted him with an iron bar, fatally striking him on the head. The commotion alerted a nearby neighbor, who rushed to help Kimani. Unfortunately, upon realizing that the assailant was armed with a crude weapon, the neighbor’s attempt to intervene ended tragically as he was brutally hammered to death.

After these shocking acts of violence, Mwangi fled to the Kimana area, where he targeted a tuktuk operator named Simon Kihara. Kihara managed to stop Mwangi and quickly reported the incident to the local police station. The victim had suffered severe injuries to his forehead during the attack.

The police swiftly responded to the report and located Mwangi walking along the roadside, still carrying the weapon. They confronted him, instructing him to stop, but Mwangi furiously attacked the officers, causing damage to their vehicle. In order to protect themselves and the public, the police were left with no choice but to fatally shoot Mwangi.

Meanwhile, in Kirinyaga County, the authorities are investigating the murder of a fourth-year student from Kirinyaga University. The incident took place at Kutus trading center around 9 pm on Friday. The student was accompanied by two fellow classmates, who raised the alarm when he suddenly collapsed and began bleeding from his thigh following the attack.

The police have launched a thorough investigation into both cases, aiming to bring justice to the victims and their families. These shocking acts of violence have left the communities in Kajiado County and Kirinyaga County in a state of mourning, calling for increased security measures to prevent such tragedies from occurring in the future.
