Man Fatally Attacks Shopkeeper in Delhi After Being Refused Cigarettes

In a tragic incident that took place in Dwarka’s Shyam Enclave area on November 10, a man brutally killed a shopkeeper after he was denied a packet of cigarettes. The accused has been identified as Raj Kumar, who resides in the same locality as the victim, Nandu. The unfortunate incident occurred around 11 PM when Nandu was closing his shop and preparing to head home.

Upon encountering Nandu, Raj approached him, requesting a packet of cigarettes. However, since the shop was already closed, Nandu politely declined the request. This simple refusal seemingly enraged the accused, resulting in a sudden outburst of verbal abuse towards Nandu. Matters escalated quickly when Raj attacked Nandu with a sharp-edged weapon, striking him on the head.

Following the horrific assault, an FIR has been registered against Raj Kumar under Section 324 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), which deals with voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons or means. Authorities are currently making every effort to apprehend the absconding accused.

This recent incident serves as a reminder of the growing trend of violence erupting over mundane disputes. Just last month, on October 28, another shocking incident occurred when a man named Pamma was allegedly murdered during an argument over Beedis. Pamma’s companion, who witnessed the encounter, recounted the events leading up to the fatal altercation.

According to the witness, he and Pamma were standing by the road when the accused approached them, demanding a beedi. When they refused to comply with his request, a heated argument ensued. The situation rapidly escalated, with the accused repeatedly striking Pamma on the head until he collapsed to the ground.

The witness described the harrowing experience, stating, “The assailant then turned his aggression towards me, assaulting me with a brick, causing injuries to my left eye and nose. In desperation, we screamed for help, prompting the accused to flee the scene.” Authorities swiftly registered a case in response to the incident, resulting in the arrest of one individual. Further investigations are currently underway.

These distressing incidents highlight the need for heightened awareness and vigilance in society. It is imperative that individuals exercise restraint and find peaceful resolutions to conflicts, rather than resorting to violence.
