A man has been arrested in connection with the discovery of a teenager’s body on the 605 freeway in Pico Rivera. The suspect, identified as 26-year-old Marvell Beroit, was apprehended by the California Highway Patrol. The victim has been identified as 18-year-old Emily Bortee.

The incident occurred on October 16 when the CHP received a report of a body on the Rose Hills Road onramp to the northbound 605 freeway. Upon arrival, officers found Bortee’s body concealed among ivy plants on the onramp.
Following an investigation, Beroit was identified as the suspect in Bortee’s murder. He was located and arrested on October 23, now facing murder charges.
The circumstances leading up to Bortee’s death have not been disclosed as the investigation is still ongoing. It remains unclear what relationship, if any, existed between the suspect and the victim.
Beroit is currently being held on $2,025,000 bail as he awaits further legal proceedings.
