Victim Identified in Deadly Shooting at New Hampshire State Hospital

Concord, NH – Bradley Haas, a 63-year-old resident of Franklin, New Hampshire, has been identified as the victim in the ongoing investigation of a deadly shooting at the New Hampshire State Hospital in Concord.

Mr. Haas, who served as a New Hampshire Department of Safety Security Officer, tragically lost his life while fulfilling his duty to protect others. The incident occurred at approximately 3:30 pm on Friday, as Mr. Haas was stationed at the hospital’s front lobby entrance. He was a devoted father and a highly respected law enforcement veteran, having previously served as the Chief of the Franklin Police Department in his hometown for 28 years. Prior to his tenure in the police force, Mr. Haas served as a patrol officer following three years as a military police officer in the U.S. Army. In this time of grief, Mr. Haas’ family has requested privacy.

The shooter, whose identity has not been disclosed, was immediately confronted by a New Hampshire State Police Trooper assigned to the hospital. Responding swiftly, members of the New Hampshire State Police, Concord Police Department, New Hampshire State Office Complex Police, and the Merrimack County Sheriff’s Office arrived at the scene alongside the Concord Fire Department.

As the investigation into the shooting incident continues, authorities are withholding the identity of the shooter. The New Hampshire State Police have already conducted a thorough search of a suspicious box truck near the scene, concluding that it poses no safety risk.

Autopsies for both Mr. Haas and the shooter are scheduled to take place tomorrow at the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Concord.

Following standard protocol, the name of the Trooper involved in the incident will not be released until a formal interview has been conducted.
