Accident – Death – Obituary News : Heading into one of the busiest weekends for grocery shopping in Frisco, residents are being cautioned to remain vigilant following a tragic incident. The local police are currently on the hunt for an unidentified gunman who indiscriminately shot two individuals outside a Walmart store in Frisco, sparking concerns among the community.

Tragically, one of the victims, identified as 62-year-old Dung Doan, succumbed to his injuries. Doan, a loving husband and father of two, had recently immigrated from Vietnam with hopes of building a better life for his family in the United States. A devastated Kaitlin Nguyen, Doan’s niece, shared that her uncle and aunt were filled with excitement about their new beginning, intending to provide their son with educational opportunities.

Doan, who worked at a local bakery, resided with his wife just across the street from the Walmart located on Preston Road and Hickory Street. On Wednesday evening around 9:30 p.m., tragedy struck as two individuals were shot at random in this otherwise peaceful neighborhood. Nguyen revealed that Doan frequently visited the Walmart, but on that fateful night, he never returned home.

Expressing her grief, Nguyen tearfully stated, “Nobody has the right to do that. If he had passed away due to old age or a terminal illness, we would have been better prepared, but nothing could have prepared us for something like this.”

Despite immediate medical intervention, Doan unfortunately could not be saved, as confirmed by the police. Consequently, his family has established an online fundraiser to assist with the funeral expenses, and those wishing to contribute can visit the designated page.

Fortunately, the second victim of the shooting is expected to survive the ordeal. Reflecting on the incident, Nguyen lamented, “He was so thrilled to have the opportunity to come to the U.S., but who would have thought that he would have been better off staying in Vietnam.”

Nguyen strongly emphasized the urgency of apprehending the murderer, stating, “The offender must be apprehended and prevented from causing harm to others.”

In light of this tragic incident, the police are urging the public to remain vigilant and mindful of their surroundings to avoid becoming potential targets. They recommend exercising increased caution, particularly in familiar areas, and encourage individuals to refrain from excessive phone usage, instead reporting any suspicious activities promptly.

As authorities continue their investigation, the Frisco community remains united in mourning the loss of Dung Doan, a man who had embarked upon a journey filled with hope and promise, only to have it tragically cut short..
