AHMEDABAD – A 21-year-old man was apprehended on Friday evening in Ahmedabad for allegedly selling tickets for the highly anticipated India vs Australia Cricket World Cup final on the black market, according to local authorities.

The suspect, identified as Milan Thakurdas Peshumal Mulchandani from Hansol, Sardarnagar in Ahmedabad, has been charged under sections 33 (1) and 131 of the Gujarat Police Act.

The arrest came after the accused was spotted on Sindhu Bhavan Road during a routine patrol by the Bodavdev police. Upon conducting a physical search, law enforcement discovered that he was in possession of six tickets, four of which had different serial numbers and were priced at Rs 6,000 each. The remaining two tickets were valued at Rs 3,500 each. However, the accused was attempting to sell them on the black market for a staggering price of Rs 25,000 to Rs 35,000, as confirmed by police officials.

Further investigation revealed that the suspect acquired the tickets by purchasing them online during regular sales, with the intention of reselling them at inflated prices to unsuspecting buyers.

“The investigation is currently underway to determine how he managed to contact potential buyers for his illicit ticket sales,” stated Bodavdev Station Police Inspector Sunita Patel.
