Middlesex County Prosecutor Yolanda Ciccone has announced a major breakthrough in the case of vandalism at the Congregation Etz Chaim Jewish Center, providing much-needed relief to the community.

After an extensive investigation, a 15-year-old juvenile has been identified as the perpetrator responsible for the recent act of vandalism, which had sparked outrage and concern among the congregation.

The incident occurred on November 9, 2023, when the Congregation Etz Chaim Jewish Center in Monroe Township, Middlesex County, was defaced with graffiti, leaving the community deeply disturbed.

Today, on November 17, 2023, the Monroe Police Department announced the successful conclusion of their investigation into this distressing incident.

Their success can be attributed to the unwavering support and cooperation of local residents and businesses, who provided valuable information and assistance throughout the investigative process.

Detectives from the Monroe Township Police Department were able to identify and interview a 15-year-old juvenile believed to be responsible for the act of vandalism.

Importantly, authorities have determined that the juvenile does not pose a threat to either the Jewish community or the broader community. However, the investigation into the incident is still ongoing, and charges related to the act are pending review by the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office.
