The suspect, identified as Shamar Dequez Johnson, aged 24, shot and killed Cecil V. Richardson, aged 26, on September 11, 2021. According to the police, the shooting occurred after an argument between the two individuals.
After a jury trial, Johnson was found guilty of the crime and has been sentenced to 40 years in the Florida Department of Corrections. The sentencing was carried out by Judge Frederick Mercurio.

The shooting incident took place just before noon in the 4800 block of 51st Street W, outside an apartment complex. Police responded to the scene and discovered Richardson with multiple gunshot wounds. Despite the immediate efforts of the officers to save his life, Richardson succumbed to his injuries and passed away.
