A shocking incident unfolded in Roseville on Monday when a Sterling Heights man was found alongside the lifeless body of a woman in a vehicle. The Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office has since confirmed that Martin Yost, 42, has been charged with second-degree murder in connection with the woman’s death. Yost was arraigned on Thursday in the 39th District Court in Roseville.

During the arraignment, the judge ordered that Yost be held without bond at the county jail. A probable cause hearing has been scheduled for November 29th to further examine the case against him. If convicted, Yost could face a maximum sentence of life imprisonment.

According to prosecutors, Yost is accused of brutally beating his girlfriend to death. The Roseville police apprehended Yost on Monday after discovering him and the deceased woman in a vehicle on Gratiot Avenue, near Interstate 94. Records from the Michigan Department of Corrections reveal that he has previously been convicted of attempted carry of a concealed weapon, domestic violence, and fleeing police. Yost’s most recent conviction was for domestic violence stemming from a 2019 assault. According to agency records, he was on parole until October 27th when he was discharged from supervision.
