A suspect has been apprehended by the police in connection with the murder of a panchayat pradhan in the North 24 Parganas district of West Bengal. Following the incident, Mondal’s body was taken to Barasat District Hospital for a postmortem examination. A complaint was filed at the Amdanga police station against two individuals believed to be involved in the crime. The arrested suspect, Anwar Hasan Mondal, was presented in the Barasat District Court on Friday, where a petition requesting 14-day police custody was submitted.

Barasat Superintendent of Police, Bhaskar Mukherjee, informed ANI that Rupchand Mondal sustained severe injuries in the bomb explosion and is currently in critical condition at the hospital. However, the hospital authorities have not provided any updates on his health status.

This incident comes just days after the alleged shooting of a local Trinamool Congress leader in Joynagar, South 24 Parganas district. The victim, Saifuddin Laskar, was reportedly shot at close range in the Bamungachi area while he was on his way to offer Namaz. Unfortunately, one of the injured individuals, identified as Shahabuddin, later succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.
