Five Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) terrorists killed in overnight encounter in Kulgam district of Jammu and Kashmir

Accident – Death – Obituary News : Five terrorists belonging to the Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) were neutralized on Friday after a prolonged encounter with security forces in Kulgam district of Jammu and Kashmir, according to police reports. The operation, which lasted for 18 hours, concluded with the retrieval of the terrorists’ bodies and the subsequent sanitization of the area.

Inspector General of Police, Kashmir Zone, V K Birdi confirmed the successful operation, stating, “The bodies of the slain terrorists have been retrieved and the area is being sanitized.” The use of drone footage played a crucial role in locating the terrorists’ bodies.

The operation was initiated by security forces in response to credible intelligence regarding the presence of terrorists in Nehama village of Kulgam. As the security personnel conducted a cordon-and-search operation, the terrorists opened fire, resulting in a fierce gun battle. The security forces maintained a tight cordon around the area to trap the militants. However, the operation was temporarily suspended overnight.

Gunshots were exchanged once again early Friday morning after a lull during the night. In the exchange of fire, the house where the terrorists were hiding caught fire, compelling them to come out.

The slain terrorists were identified as Sameer Ahmad Sheikh (PAFF), Yasir Bilal Bhat, Danish Ahmad Thokar, Hanzullah Yaqoob Shah, and Ubaid Ahmad Padder (all TRF). The security officials revealed that Sheikh had joined the militant ranks in 2021, while the others had joined either last year or earlier this year.

PAFF and TRF, according to security officials, are known to be shadow outfits of the Lashkar. The successful operation against these terrorists is a significant blow to the LeT and its affiliated groups operating in the region.
