Gandhinagar: Five individuals tragically lost their lives while one sustained injuries in a devastating road accident that occurred on Friday night in Gandhinagar, Gujarat. The incident unfolded near Keshav Gaushala, as detailed in the report provided by local authorities.
According to Police Sub-Inspector A S Gamit, the accident took place at approximately 12:10 a.m. on Friday. Six young individuals, aged between 17 and 22, were returning from a movie at Pethapur’s Sunlight Theatre when the car they were traveling in crashed into a tree. Tragically, five of them succumbed to their injuries at the scene, while the remaining individual was rushed to Ahmedabad Civil Hospital for medical treatment. Authorities have determined that the vehicle was traveling at high speed, causing it to collide with the tree and overturn multiple times, resulting in the fatal accident.
In response to the incident, the Pethapur police have filed a case of rash driving against the driver, who was among the five individuals who lost their lives in the tragic accident.
The deceased individuals have been identified as Mohammad Alfaz, also known as Sujal Belim, Salman Chauhan, Asfak Chauhan, Mohammad Sajeb Belim, and Sahil Chauhan. The injured individual has been identified as Shahnawab Chauhan. All of them hail from Mansa tehsil in the Gandhinagar district, as confirmed by local authorities.
Based on a complaint filed by one of the deceased individuals’ fathers, Chauhan, the driver, has been charged with rash driving and causing death by negligence under the provisions of the Indian Penal Code and the Motor Vehicles Act.
