Accident – Death – Obituary News : Caddo Parish District Attorney Announces Indictments in Fatal Shooting and Other Crimes in Shreveport

Caddo Parish, Louisiana – In a recent announcement, the Caddo Parish District Attorney revealed nine indictments, including charges against a 15-year-old involved in a fatal shooting that claimed the life of one man and left another severely injured. The incident took place on Raspberry Lane in west Shreveport at the Riverdale Apartments.

On the evening of June 26, 2023, the Shreveport police responded to a distress call regarding a shooting at the Riverdale Apartments located in the 6800 block of Raspberry Lane. Upon arrival at the scene at approximately 8:46 p.m., they discovered 30-year-old Samjarrar Amie and Randy Bedford Jr. with gunshot wounds. Sadly, Amie succumbed to his injuries shortly after being transported to the hospital.

The alleged perpetrator of this deadly shooting is a 15-year-old teenager named Demarcus Antonio June, who resides in Shreveport. June has been indicted on charges of second-degree murder and attempted second-degree murder.

In another incident that occurred on July 27, 2023, Jeffrey Jadarnyea Smith, a 34-year-old man from Shreveport, was charged with second-degree murder for the killing of 36-year-old James Morgan. Smith reportedly contacted the Shreveport Police Department dispatch and identified himself as the shooter. The incident took place in the 1900 block of Alston Street.

Additionally, Sherman Durden, a 44-year-old individual, was fatally shot on July 20, 2023, in the 6900 block of California Avenue. Shreveport Police Department reported that Durden was found in the roadway with multiple gunshot wounds. A teenager, Kaiden Lyndell Brossett-Boone, aged 18, was detained and charged with Durden’s murder.

Furthermore, an 18-year-old named Darreyon Marcell Thomas from Shreveport was charged with the shooting death of 17-year-old A’Jaylus Harris and the attempted second-degree murder of another juvenile identified only as K.W. The incident occurred on July 31, 2023, at the intersection of Alabama Avenue and Poland Street.

In an unrelated incident, on May 7, 2023, Raymond Behan Jr., a 44-year-old man, was found with multiple gunshot wounds at the Fairmont Apartments on Common Street. Quanchivas Roshun Webster, a 26-year-old resident of Shreveport, was charged with second-degree murder in connection with Behan Jr.’s death. Webster also faces charges of being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm.

In a surprising turn of events, all of the indicted individuals, who are residents of Caddo Parish, were also charged with unrelated first-degree rape charges. The accused include 23-year-old Willie James Green from Shreveport, 51-year-old Anthony J. Hollis from Mooringsport, and 36-year-old Courtney Denon Oliver from Shreveport. Due to the gravity of the charges, the indictments for Green, Hollis, and Oliver were filed under seal, and further details are not available at this time.
