Ring Doorbell Captures SUV Speeding Through Michigan Neighborhood During Double Murder

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — A shocking incident unfolded in the Alger Heights neighborhood of Grand Rapids, Michigan last week, as a Ring doorbell camera captured the moment a black SUV sped through the area. The incident occurred at the same time two individuals were found dead in the street just over a mile away.

The video footage shows a Jeep Trailhawk racing northbound down a street in Alger Heights at approximately 11 a.m. on November 6. Later investigations confirmed that a toddler was present in the backseat of the vehicle during this reckless act.

Exclusive footage obtained by WOOD, a Nexstar affiliate, showcases the moment the nearly three-year-old boy was dropped off at Seymour Park. The park, which is essentially a vacant, grass-covered corner lot, became the location where the child was abandoned.

At precisely 11:05 a.m., the video surveillance captures the black SUV coming to a sudden halt, and the driver’s side door swings open. The individual, presumably the driver, emerges from the vehicle and proceeds to open the back door. It was later confirmed that the toddler being retrieved was the son of one of the two victims, both of whom had been fatally shot.

Grand Rapids Police Chief Eric Winstrom revealed that the child had blood on his clothes when he was dropped off, suggesting that he may have witnessed the tragic murder of his father.

As the individual removes the toddler from the backseat, the view becomes obstructed by a nearby fence. However, it can be discerned that they proceed to walk or carry the child across the street, eventually placing him in the park. The driver then hastily returns to the vehicle and speeds away, leaving behind the sound of screeching tires. The entire process of dropping off the child lasted a mere 23 seconds.

The neighbor who shared the Ring doorbell images noted that there is a short gap in the video following the vehicle’s departure. When the footage resumes at 11:10 a.m., a couple walking their dogs can be seen stopping to assist the child and subsequently contacting the police.

Around the same time, approximately a mile and a half west in the Burton Heights neighborhood, residents placed emergency calls to report the discovery of a lifeless body riddled with bullet holes in the street. The victim was later identified as the toddler’s father, 19-year-old Malik Eubanks.

According to the Grand Rapids Police, Eubanks was dumped in Burton Heights just moments before his son was abandoned at Seymour Park.

Tragically, the lifeless body of Eubanks’ girlfriend, Aniyia Rodriguez, was found lying just around the corner from where he was discovered. Rodriguez, 20, had also been fatally shot.

Approximately five hours later, at around 4 p.m., a third deadly shooting occurred in the nearby vicinity, claiming the life of Darryl Yarber.

Later that Monday night at 7:45 p.m., the Grand Rapids Police discovered the abandoned black Jeep approximately three miles away from the initial crime scene. It was determined that the SUV belonged to Aniyia Rodriguez.

Fortunately, Eubanks’ son was unharmed during the ordeal and has since been reunited with his mother.

The Grand Rapids Police are actively searching for the perpetrator or perpetrators responsible for these heinous crimes. Detectives urge anyone with information to come forward and contact the authorities immediately.
