However, the girl decided to end the relationship on her family’s advice. This decision didn’t sit well with Shanmugam, and on Tuesday morning, he forcefully entered the girl’s house and demanded that her mother arrange their marriage. When the mother refused, an argument ensued, and Shanmugam resorted to violence. Armed with a machete, he attacked both the woman, aged 38, and her daughter, causing severe injuries to their heads. The girl also sustained injuries on her right thumb.

Upon receiving a complaint from the girl’s mother, the police have registered a case against Shanmugam for attempted murder, trespassing, and verbal abuse. However, he will be arrested only after his discharge from the hospital. It is worth noting that Shanmugam has a history of involvement in two murder cases when he was a juvenile.
