The girl’s brother, named Upendra, who was present during the incident, also suffered burn injuries. Upendra had vowed to kill Umesh and, on the day of Diwali, he, along with his brother, fulfilled their revenge by brutally murdering Umesh with an axe just before the Bhai Dooj festival.

The police, along with the SDRF team, initiated a search operation to recover Umesh’s body following the confessions of the accused brothers.
