Police – Accident – Death – Obituary News : UPDATE: Victim and Suspect Identified in Rapid Valley Homicide

In a tragic incident that occurred on November 13, the Rapid City Police Department has identified both the victim and the suspect involved in a murder-attempted suicide case. The victim has been identified as 32-year-old Mercades Dahlvang from Philip, while the suspect is 33-year-old Steven Custer from Rapid City. Currently, Custer is hospitalized in critical condition due to a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Law enforcement authorities were alerted to the incident after receiving reports of gunfire in the 4000 block of Gypsey Lane in Rapid Valley. Upon arriving at the scene, officers discovered both Dahlvang and Custer in the front yard of a residence, both suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. Immediate medical attention was provided, and they were rushed to the hospital. Unfortunately, Dahlvang succumbed to her injuries and passed away.
