GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — A Ring doorbell camera recorded a black SUV racing through a residential area in Michigan last week, coinciding with the discovery of two deceased individuals in the vicinity, just over one mile away.

The video footage displays a Jeep Trailhawk hurtling north down a street in the Alger Heights neighborhood at approximately 11 a.m. on November 6th. Subsequently, it was confirmed that a toddler was present in the backseat during this time.

Nexstar’s WOOD obtained the Ring doorbell video capturing the moment the nearly three-year-old boy was dropped off at Seymour Park, a vacant corner lot covered in grass.

At precisely 11:05 a.m., the video reveals the black SUV coming to a stop and the driver’s side door opening.

The individual, presumably the driver, alights from the vehicle, opens the back door, and retrieves the toddler, later identified as the son of one of the two victims who had been fatally shot.

According to Grand Rapids Police Chief Eric Winstrom, the child had blood on his clothing upon being dropped off, suggesting that he may have witnessed his father’s murder.

Although the fence obstructs the view once the person removes the toddler from the back seat, it can be discerned that they proceed to walk or carry the child across a street to place him in the park. Following this, the driver promptly returns to the vehicle and speeds away, leaving behind the sound of screeching tires.

The entire process of depositing the toddler lasted approximately 23 seconds.

The neighbor who shared the Ring doorbell images noted a gap in the footage after the vehicle sped away. However, when the camera resumes at 11:10 a.m., a couple walking their dogs had stopped to assist the child and promptly contacted the authorities.

During that same period, approximately one and a half miles west in the Burton Heights neighborhood, residents called 911 to report a lifeless body riddled with bullets lying in the street. The victim was later identified as Malik Eubanks, the toddler’s father. Grand Rapids Police confirmed that Eubanks was dumped in the street moments before his son was left at Seymour Park.

In close proximity to Eubanks’ body, the lifeless form of his girlfriend, Aniyia Rodriguez, was also discovered. Rodriguez, 20, had likewise succumbed to fatal gunshot wounds.

Approximately five hours later, at approximately 4 p.m., GRPD responded to yet another fatal shooting in the nearby vicinity. Darryl Yarber was found shot dead.

Later that Monday evening, at 7:45 p.m., the Grand Rapids Police located the abandoned black Jeep approximately three miles away.

The abandoned SUV was determined to belong to Aniyia Rodriguez.

Fortunately, Eubanks’ son emerged unharmed from the incident and has since been reunited with his mother.

As the investigation continues, the Grand Rapids Police are tirelessly searching for the perpetrator or perpetrators involved in these heinous crimes. Detectives urge anyone with pertinent information to come forward and contact the authorities.
