GRAND RAPIDS, Mich.: Surveillance Video Captures Moment Toddler is Dropped Off After Double Murder

Video Footage Reveals Black SUV Speeding Through Michigan Neighborhood

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — A shocking incident unfolded in a quiet Michigan neighborhood last week when a Ring doorbell camera captured a black SUV speeding through the streets. This incident occurred around the same time two individuals were found dead in the street, just over a mile away.

The video footage shows a Jeep Trailhawk hurtling north down a street in the Alger Heights neighborhood at approximately 11 a.m. on November 6th. To the surprise of investigators, it was later confirmed that a toddler was in the backseat of the vehicle during this high-speed incident.

Nexstar’s WOOD managed to obtain the Ring doorbell footage that documented the moment the child, who is nearly three years old, was dropped off at Seymour Park. This park, unfortunately, resembles a vacant, grass-covered corner lot.

At precisely 11:05 a.m., the video captures the black SUV coming to a halt, and the driver swiftly exits the vehicle from the driver’s side door. The individual then proceeds to open the back door, retrieving the toddler, who was later confirmed to be the son of one of the two victims. Both victims had been shot to death.

Grand Rapids Police Chief Eric Winstrom has stated that the child had blood stains on his clothes, which suggests that he may have witnessed his father’s killing.

Unfortunately, the fence obstructs the view in the video once the individual removes the toddler from the back seat. However, it is discernible that the individual walks or carries the child across a street to place him in the park. Afterward, the driver hastily returns to the vehicle, causing the tires to screech as they speed away. The entire process of dropping off the toddler lasted approximately 23 seconds.

The neighbor who shared the Ring footage mentioned that there is a brief gap in the video immediately after the vehicle speeds away. However, when the camera resumes at 11:10 a.m., a couple walking their dogs can be seen stopping to assist the child and promptly notify the police.

During this time, approximately one and a half miles west in the Burton Heights neighborhood, concerned neighbors dialed 911 to report a bullet-riddled body lying in the street. Later identified as the toddler’s father, 19-year-old Malik Eubanks, the discovery was made just moments before his son was dropped off at Seymour Park.

Tragically, the lifeless body of Eubanks’ girlfriend, 20-year-old Aniyia Rodriguez, was also found nearby. She too had fallen victim to a fatal shooting.

Adding to the already grim situation, another deadly shooting occurred approximately five hours later, around 4 p.m., in the vicinity. The victim, identified as Darryl Yarber, was found shot dead.

Later that Monday night, at 7:45 p.m., the Grand Rapids Police made a significant discovery when they stumbled upon the abandoned black Jeep just three miles away.

Authorities have since confirmed that the abandoned SUV belonged to Aniyia Rodriguez.

Fortunately, Eubanks’ son was unharmed during these tragic events, and he has been safely reunited with his mother.

The Grand Rapids Police Department is actively pursuing leads to apprehend the killer or killers involved in this heinous crime. Detectives urge anyone with relevant information to come forward and contact them immediately.
