Accident – Death – Obituary News : The Granville Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is currently conducting an active investigation into a devastating multi-vehicle collision that occurred in Etna Township, located in Licking County. This tragic incident took place on Interstate 70 near state Route 310 at approximately 8:52 a.m., involving a charter bus, two commercial vehicles, and two passenger vehicles.

Among the vehicles involved in the crash was a commercial vehicle belonging to Wapakoneta-based G.A. Wintzer & Sons, driven by 37-year-old Brandon Marchal from Wapakoneta. Additionally, a passenger vehicle operated by 75-year-old Robert Wolverton from Heath was also involved in the collision. Furthermore, a Millersburg-based Pioneer Trails bus, driven by 65-year-old Donald Wagler from Hartville, and a commercial vehicle from Hebron-based Mid-State Systems, driven by 60-year-old Jacob McDonald from Zanesville, were also part of this unfortunate accident.

Regrettably, all drivers involved in the crash sustained injuries. The charter bus was carrying 54 students and chaperones from Tuscarawas Valley Local Schools. Tragically, three passengers, identified as 18-year-old John W. Mosley from Mineral City, 18-year-old Jeffery D. Worrell from Bolivar, and 15-year-old Katelyn N. Owens from Mineral City, lost their lives and were pronounced deceased at the scene.

In addition to the fatalities, fifteen students and the bus driver were rushed to the hospital for medical treatment. Meanwhile, the remaining students were taken to a designated reunification site to ensure their safety and well-being. Furthermore, inside one of the passenger vehicles involved in the collision, all three occupants, namely 56-year-old Dave Kennat from Navarre, 39-year-old Kristy Gaynor from Zoar, and 45-year-old Shannon Wigfield from Bolivar, tragically succumbed to their injuries and were pronounced dead at the scene.

The response to this devastating incident involved the collaborative efforts of various agencies, including Licking County Sheriff Randy Thorp and his deputies, Tuscarawas Sheriff Orvis Campbell and his deputies, as well as the West Licking Fire Department and EMS, the Licking County Coroner’s Office, Jae’s Towing, the Ohio Department of Transportation, and several others.
