Tragic Semi Crash Claims Life of Tampa Man in Bloomington

BLOOMINGTON (25News Now) – A devastating accident involving multiple vehicles on Monday in Bloomington, Illinois has resulted in the unfortunate demise of a Tampa, Florida resident. The McLean County Coroner’s Office has identified the victim as 38-year-old Demario L. Coleman.

According to the preliminary findings by McLean County Coroner Kathy Yoder, Coleman’s tragic death was caused by probable carbon monoxide poisoning due to the inhalation of smoke and soot, as well as thermal burns sustained during the crash. The incident involved a semi-truck, which reportedly collided with several other vehicles before veering off the road, overturning, and ultimately catching fire.

While toxicology testing is still pending, the McLean County Coroner’s Office, in collaboration with the Illinois State Police and the Bloomington Fire Department, is actively investigating the circumstances surrounding this devastating crash.

The incident occurred on Interstate 74, near mile marker 134, close to the junction with I-55. Illinois State Police are urging motorists to exercise caution and be prepared for potential traffic disruptions as the investigation and cleanup operations continue.
