COLUMBUS, Ohio — Today, Ohio Governor Mike DeWine is expected to deliver a statement following the devastating Ohio bus crash that occurred in Licking County on Tuesday, claiming the lives of six individuals and injuring 18 others.

During the press conference, Governor DeWine will join the Ohio State Highway Patrol and Ohio Investigative Unit in celebrating the 90th anniversary of both agencies. However, he is also expected to address the tragic bus crash that took place on I-70.

The press conference will be streamed live by 3News at 2 p.m. It can be viewed on their website’s media player or on their YouTube channel.

The event will take place at the Ohio State Highway Patrol Training Academy in Columbus, where Governor DeWine will be accompanied by Ohio Department of Public Safety Director Andy Wilson and Ohio State Highway Patrol Colonel Charles Jones.

Furthermore, the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) will provide an update on the ongoing investigation of the Ohio bus crash at 4 p.m.

The collision involved five vehicles, including a semi-truck and a charter bus carrying students and chaperones from Tuscarawas Valley Local Schools. The bus was en route to the Ohio School Boards Association conference in Columbus when the accident occurred at approximately 8:52 a.m. near the Smoke Road underpass.

According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, six individuals lost their lives as a result of the crash. Among the deceased were three passengers on the charter bus, who were students at Tuscarawas Valley High School. They have been identified as Wyatt Mosely, 18, from Mineral City; Jeffery “J.D.” Worrell, 18, from Bolivar; and Katelyn Owens, 15, from Mineral City.

Additionally, a passenger vehicle involved in the crash was occupied by three individuals, all of whom were pronounced dead at the scene. They have been identified as Dave Kennat, 56, from Navarre; Kristy Gaynor, 39, from Zoar; and Shannon Wigfield, 45, from Bolivar.

Governor DeWine expressed his deep sorrow during a brief press conference on Tuesday, stating, “This is our worst nightmare when we have a bus full of children involved in a crash. It certainly is the worst nightmare that families can endure or a school can endure.”

In honor of the victims, Governor DeWine has ordered that flags be flown at half-staff on all public buildings and grounds in Tuscarawas and Stark counties, as well as at the Ohio Statehouse, Vern Riffe Center, and Rhodes Tower. This tribute will begin at sunrise on November 15 and continue until sunset on November 18.
