Further details provided by Lucknow Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), West, Rahul Raj revealed that Santosh Kumar Saini intentionally watched a film to establish an alibi and divert suspicion away from himself. However, she managed to reveal the name of one of the culprits by writing it down. Aasma Bano then drugged her and left her unconscious. Neelam Saini later regained consciousness and crawled to the main road for help.

The police were able to identify the grey-colored SUV used in the crime through CCTV footage and traced it back to its owner, Shubham Yadav. Through rigorous interrogation, Yadav confessed to his involvement in the conspiracy. Further investigation revealed that Santosh Kumar Saini was the mastermind behind the entire plan. He had hired Shubham Yadav, Mohd Asif Ansari alias Mannu, and Aasma Bano to carry out the crime. Saini admitted that he orchestrated the conspiracy in order to gain control of his in-laws’ property, as his wife was the victim’s only sibling.
