Police Identify Likely Cause of Death in Plungar Murder Investigation

Police authorities have recently disclosed the probable cause of death of a man whose lifeless body was discovered in a field in Plungar. The investigation into this suspected murder is ongoing.

On Tuesday, November 7, at approximately 3:30 PM, officers were called to the scene off Highgate Lane after the body of a man was found. The events that unfolded following the discovery can be followed in detail here.


Police have revealed the results of a post mortem

The man, now identified as 46-year-old Timothy Macdonald, affectionately known as Don, is believed to have suffered a head injury, prompting suspicions surrounding his death. However, a post-mortem examination has recently confirmed that Mr. Macdonald’s cause of death was a gunshot wound injury. Further tests are still pending.

Leading the investigation is Detective Inspector David Greenhalgh from the East Midlands Special Operations Unit (EMSOU). He stated, “Our inquiries in this investigation remain ongoing, and we are diligently working to uncover the full circumstances surrounding this incident. We are providing continuous support to Mr. Macdonald’s family and urge anyone with information to come forward.”

“We understand that the community may be concerned, but we assure you that a thorough investigation is underway to determine what has transpired,” added Inspector Greenhalgh. “Local officers have been actively engaging with residents in the area, offering reassurance during this troubling time.”

Just last week, the grieving family of Mr. Macdonald expressed their heartfelt tributes, describing him as a “beloved son, father, brother, and son-in-law.”
