Upon arrival at the scene, authorities discovered a 2008 Chevrolet Express van that had veered off the road and crashed onto the shoulder of the Interstate. According to Amber Lagace, the public information officer for the state police, the van was traveling southbound when it abruptly cut across the median dividing I-293 southbound and I-93 southbound. Subsequently, the vehicle lost control, leading to a violent rollover and eventual rest on the shoulder.

The force of the crash resulted in multiple occupants being ejected from the van. Promptly, fire and rescue teams from Hooksett and Bow were summoned to provide assistance. Sadly, one of the individuals involved, Jose Evangelista Yanascual Cumbalaza, aged 50 and hailing from Brockton, Massachusetts, succumbed to his injuries at the scene. Hendry Matias Chuqui Pena, aged 38, also from Brockton, MA, was identified as the van’s driver. Additionally, three others sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were transported to Elliot Hospital for medical attention.

Given the severity of the incident, the state’s collision analysis and reconstruction unit has been tasked with investigating the crash. Every aspect surrounding the accident remains under scrutiny as law enforcement officers work diligently to uncover the full extent of what transpired.

Authorities are urging anyone who may have witnessed the crash to come forward and provide any relevant information. Trooper First Class Francisco Vincente can be contacted via email at Francisco.A.Vicente@dos.nh.gov.
