Man Arrested in Williamson County Following Knife Threat Incident

In a recent development, the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office has apprehended a man on Saturday evening after he allegedly threatened another individual with a knife. The suspect, identified as Joshua S. Colburn, was also uncooperative with the authorities during the incident.

The incident took place on November 11, at approximately 7:13 p.m., near Whiteash, Illinois. Upon receiving a distress call reporting a man wielding a knife and threatening someone, deputies were dispatched to the scene.

Upon arrival, law enforcement officials discovered the suspect, Joshua S. Colburn, walking south on Binkley Road. They noticed that he had a knife securely sheathed on his hip. However, when confronted by the deputies, Colburn refused to cooperate or provide any identification.

Concerned for their safety and the safety of others, the deputies promptly disarmed Colburn and conducted a thorough search. Apart from the knife, they discovered a small black cylinder item in his back right pocket, which he claimed was pepper spray for self-defense.

Despite multiple attempts to ascertain his identity, Colburn persistently refused to provide his name or date of birth. Remarkably, he did not possess any form of identification on his person or in his wallet at the time of the incident.

The sheriff’s office described Colburn as extremely aggressive and impolite throughout the interaction with the deputies. After three failed attempts to identify him, Colburn was apprehended on charges of obstructing identification.

Following the arrest, deputies visited the victim’s residence to gather further information regarding the incident. The victim corroborated the earlier report, stating that Colburn had brandished a knife and made threatening remarks towards him.

Subsequently, Colburn was transported to the Williamson County Jail. However, even during the journey, he continued to exhibit verbally aggressive behavior, hurling random expletives at the deputies. The entire incident was recorded on the patrol vehicle’s in-car video and audio recording system.

Upon arrival at the jail, Colburn displayed a lack of cooperation during the booking process, leading the authorities to place him in a restraint chair. It was only at around 10:35 p.m. that jail staff were finally able to successfully identify him.

As a result of his actions, Colburn has been charged with aggravated assault and obstructing identification.
