Accident – Death – Obituary News : James Koutney and Deborah Koutney tragically lost their lives on Monday afternoon in Yuma, Arizona, after an Off-Highway Vehicle (OHV) failed to yield the right of way at an intersection. The Yuma County Sheriff’s Office is currently conducting an investigation into the fatal crash, which occurred at approximately 3:20 p.m. on November 13, 2023.
According to reports from the Yuma County Sheriff’s Office, a Polaris RZR was traveling northbound on S. Avenue 14 E when it failed to give the right of way to a Hyundai Accent that was heading eastbound on E. 48th Street. Despite the Hyundai having the right of way, the OHV proceeded to enter the intersection and collided with the sedan. The impact of the collision resulted in both the driver and passenger of the RZR being ejected from the vehicle and sustaining life-threatening injuries.

Emergency services arrived at the scene and promptly transported both victims to Yuma Regional Medical Center (YRMC) via Rural Metro. Tragically, James Koutney, 79, and Deborah Koutney, 72, both residents of Yuma, Arizona, succumbed to their injuries and passed away at the medical center. The driver and sole occupant of the Hyundai sedan, on the other hand, only sustained minor injuries and was also taken to YRMC for medical attention.
