Police Seek Driver in Fatal Hit-and-Run Incident in Orange

Authorities are on the lookout for the driver involved in a tragic hit-and-run incident that resulted in the death of a pedestrian in Orange on Tuesday evening.

According to the Orange Police Department, officers received a distressing report at 6:22 p.m. regarding a woman who had been struck by multiple vehicles near the McDonald’s located at 57 Boston Post Road. Upon arriving at the scene, law enforcement found the victim lying in the road with severe injuries.

The victim, identified as 43-year-old Khurshida Mohamadi from West Haven, was immediately transported to Yale New Haven Hospital via ambulance. Tragically, she was pronounced dead by medical personnel at the hospital.

In response to the incident, the Orange Police Department’s accident reconstruction team promptly arrived to initiate a thorough investigation.

Preliminary findings suggest that Mohamadi was crossing Boston Post Road from the north side to the south side when she was struck by a dark, four-door vehicle that fled the scene. Subsequently, she was also hit by a motorist driving a Honda Pilot who stopped and has been fully cooperative with authorities, as stated by the police.

Appealing to the public for assistance, law enforcement officials are seeking any information that may help identify the driver responsible for fleeing the scene. Furthermore, they are urging potential witnesses to come forward with any details about the crash. The vehicle that left the scene is believed to have sustained damage to its front driver’s side.
