Virginia State Police Investigate Fatal Crash in Fairfax County

Virginia State Police have launched an investigation into a tragic accident that claimed a life in Fairfax County.

Preliminary reports from the police indicate that a 1998 Honda Accord was traveling west on I-495 at a reduced speed. The Honda was found partially parked on the right shoulder of the road while its rear end extended into the right travel lane. Tragically, a westbound tractor-trailer struck the Honda from behind. The impact caused both vehicles to veer off the left side of I-495, ultimately colliding with the Jersey wall. The final resting places of the vehicles were on the left shoulder of the road.

The driver of the Honda has been identified as 40-year-old Nicole M. Lewis, a resident of Dumfries, Virginia. Unfortunately, Lewis succumbed to her injuries at the scene. Authorities have confirmed that she was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash, but it was not enough to prevent her tragic demise.
