Decatur Man Found Dead in Abandoned Factory

DECATUR, Illinois – A shocking discovery was made by the Decatur Police Department over the weekend, as they found the lifeless body of a 48-year-old man inside a deserted factory at the intersection of Main and Green Streets. Macon County Coroner Michael Day confirmed the incident, stating that the deceased, identified as Brandon Rhoads, had been deceased for a significant period before being discovered.

According to Coroner Day, a tip received by the Decatur Police Department alerted them to the suspicious activity at the shuttered factory on November 10th. Upon their investigation, officers discovered Rhoads’ lifeless body. It was apparent that he had been deceased for quite some time.

Preliminary findings from the investigation suggest that Rhoads had been unlawfully removing electrical parts from the factory without authorization. Tragically, he was found lying next to an electrically charged panel. An autopsy conducted on the victim confirmed that Rhoads had died as a result of electrocution.
