LONG BEACH, CA (November 14, 2023) – The Long Beach Police Department has identified the pedestrian who tragically lost his life in a two-vehicle collision on the Pacific Coast Highway. The victim has been identified as Carlos Villanueva Ceron, a 50-year-old resident of Long Beach.

The incident occurred on November 13 at approximately 5:50 p.m. According to authorities, a 2010 Nissan 350z was traveling eastbound at a high rate of speed when it collided with a westbound 2017 Jeep Cherokee near the intersection of Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue.

The force of the impact caused the sedan to strike a traffic pole before hitting Carlos Ceron, who was seated on a bus bench near a 7-Eleven. The collision was so severe that it split the sedan in half.

Emergency responders arrived at the scene, but tragically, Carlos Ceron was pronounced dead on-site.

The 20-year-old driver of the Nissan and the 50-year-old driver of the Jeep sustained minor injuries as a result of the accident.
