AUSTIN, Texas – The Austin Police Department (APD) is currently conducting a thorough investigation into the fatal officer-involved shooting that resulted in the loss of Officer Jorge Pastore’s life.

On November 15, the APD released a comprehensive timeline detailing the events leading up to the tragic incident that occurred on November 11.
According to the authorities, the Austin 911 center received a distress call at 2:49 a.m. from 9308 Bernoulli Drive. The caller was heard screaming for help and reported that she was being stabbed.
At approximately 2:57 a.m., the initial patrol officers, dressed in Austin police uniforms, arrived at the scene in response to the urgent 911 call, which was labeled as “Shoot/Stab Hotshot.”

The officers immediately began gathering additional information, including the whereabouts of the suspect.
They were informed that two other individuals inside the residence had also been injured by the suspect. The suspect was later identified as 35-year-old Ahmed Mohamed Nassar.
Prior to the officers’ arrival, a third victim managed to escape from the house, where Ahmed Nassar was holding them hostage. The victim was located by officers and Austin-Travis County EMS in the vicinity. She reported that the suspect was still armed with a knife.
At 3:03 a.m., the victim was transported to a local hospital by ATCEMS to receive treatment for her injuries.
Around 3 a.m., based on the information provided by the victims, the patrol officers made an emergency entry into the residence to rescue the injured individuals. Before entering, they clearly announced and identified themselves as APD officers.
However, as the officers entered at approximately 3:01 a.m., they were met with gunfire from Ahmed Nassar. The officers promptly retreated from the scene without returning fire.
Due to the suspect’s armed and barricaded status inside the residence with two hostages, the SWAT team was called in at 3:06 a.m.
At approximately 4:11 a.m., SWAT officers executed an emergency entry to rescue the victims. While inside the residence, in a rear bedroom, Ahmed Nassar opened fire on the SWAT officers, who were left with no choice but to return fire.
During the exchange of gunfire at around 4:15 a.m., it was reported over the police radio that two officers had been shot. The officers present at the scene, along with ATCEMS Tactical Medics, immediately moved the injured officers to safety and administered medical aid.
Both injured officers were swiftly transported to a local hospital by ATCEMS. Despite the best efforts, APD Officer Jorge “George” Pastore succumbed to his injuries.

The second injured officer was admitted to a local hospital, where he received treatment and was later discharged.
Inside the residence, two victims of Ahmed Nassar were discovered with fatal injuries and pronounced dead at the scene. They were identified as 63-year-old Eyman Elnemrnassar and 32-year-old Riad Nassar.
Ahmed Nassar succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The entire incident, including the officer-involved shooting, was captured on the officers’ body-worn cameras. As per APD policy, the department will release the related video footage within 10 business days.
During the incident, three APD officers discharged their department-approved firearms:
- The first officer involved has served with the department for eight years and 11 months.
- The second officer involved has served with the department for 11 years and four months.
- The third officer involved has served with the department for 16 years and 11 months.
According to APD protocol, all three officers have been placed on administrative leave pending further investigations.
APD will conduct two parallel investigations into the incident: a criminal investigation led by the APD Special Investigations Unit in collaboration with the Travis County District Attorney’s Office, and an administrative investigation overseen by the APD Internal Affairs Unit, with the Office of Police Oversight providing guidance and supervision.
